The short story
Eighteen years, one platform
I started building Squarespace sites in 2008. That’s about 18 years and more than 1,900 sites ago. I’m a Squarespace Circle Platinum expert and an Authorized Trainer, and Squarespace featured my work in one of its own articles.
Along the way I wrote a guide to adding multiple languages to any Squarespace template. It turned out to be the most-read guide on this site, which tells me two things: plenty of people need a multilingual site, and plenty would rather not build it by hand.
Language Switch exists because I got tired of rebuilding the same language menu on every multilingual project. I wanted one that sits on Squarespace’s own navigation, works with a keyboard, and is hosted so I can fix things without asking you to reinstall anything. So I built it, and I keep it maintained.
